The Contribution of Joseph Schnaier in the Preservation of Amazon Jungle

It’s not every day that we meet people who advocate the preservation of Mother Earth. These people attach much importance to nature that they do whatever they can to support their cause, even if that means having to instigate new technologies and programs that will contribute to its protection. In Brazil, there is one name that is known for his passion for environmental protection—Joseph Schnaier. A nature lover, Schnaier sees the beauty and splendour of nature in a way nobody else does. He cares so much for the environment, plants and animals alike, that he actively involves himself in the promotion of its preservation. In the history of his environmental advocacy, he has introduced several programs and technologies that allowed people to take part in his cause. He is known for always going the extra mile in the preservation of the environment that he even moves from one country to another just to campaign for active environmental protection.

One of the most remarkable projects of Joseph Schnaier was the preservation of the Amazon. The rainforest of Amazon, most popularly known as the Amazon Jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers a majority of the Amazon basin of South America. Through the years, groups of people have settled in the Amazon rainforest and converted most of the forest areas to non-forest areas. Because of the settlement of diverse groups of people in the forest and the continuous development of the land, most areas of its areas have been cleared and deforested. Schnaier recognized how the deforestation of the Amazon forest poses a threat to its biodiversity, so what he did was he explored the forest and coordinated with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as he tried to preserve the diverse animal species that dwell in the forest. He knew that if the deforestation of the Amazon would continue, these animals would soon lose their habitat and eventually die.

Joseph Schnaier also worked with his fellow Brazilian scientists and travelled to the Amazon rainforest to advocate the cessation of illegal logging there, all for the preservation of the animal species that were in the danger of extinction.

Today, projects meant for the preservation of the Amazon Jungle continue because of the initiative of Joseph Schnaier. The reforestation of the Amazon continues today to preserve its biodiversity and provide a natural habitat for the animal species that have their home there.
